Description: The key role of a phlebotomist is to aid in executing various assigned tasks, diagnosing issues, providing training, and suggesting improvements to work processes.
Responsibilities:
Experience performing blood collections, labeling samples, spinning specimens, documenting maintenance details and decontamination, updating patient records, etc.
Gathers and preserves specimens following established protocols.
Clearly and politely explains the process of venipuncture (blood drawing) and other specimen collection procedures like urine or fecal samples. Demonstrates techniques using straight or butterfly needles.
Comprehends all physician's orders. Matches lab requisition forms with specimen tubes, labels, spins, splits, and freezes samples according to test orders.
Verifies all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy. Prepares specimens for transportation.
Stores samples at appropriate temperatures as required, positions them correctly.
At least 1 year of relevant experience is essential
