Legal Case Assistant

Seeking individuals with experience in supporting legal cases.

Our client, a reputable law firm, is in need of a skilled Legal Case Assistant to assist various lawyers in their litigation team at the Dallas office.

The focus of the team revolves around commercial and financial services litigation.

This position offers a chance to join a cohesive team that emphasizes professional development, work-life balance, and long-term career growth — supported by competitive pay, excellent benefits, and a culture centered on mutual respect among legal professionals and support staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to multiple lawyers in ongoing commercial and financial services litigation cases
  • Oversee case files from start to finish, ensuring organization and readiness for trial
  • Conduct factual inquiries and interviews to pinpoint key figures, issues, and relevant documents for discovery
  • Aid in crafting responses to inquiries and document requests, including electronic production
  • Coordinate depositions and assist in summarizing depositions, medical records, and testimonies using legal case support tools
  • Create pleadings and filings for civil litigation in federal and state courts, including electronic filing
  • Assist in trial preparation — handling exhibits, aids, witness coordination — and provide trial assistance
  • Verify case references for accuracy and currency through Westlaw
  • Maintain lawyer schedules and case deadlines
  • Directly engage with clients, court staff, and government authorities

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Preference for a bachelor's degree in paralegal studies or a paralegal certificate
  • At least 4 years of experience in complex litigation is mandatory
  • Familiarity with trial preparation is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office and document management systems
  • Experience with legal case support software and e-discovery tools is a plus
  • Strong organizational, time management, and proofreading skills
  • Effective communication and a team-oriented approach

Experience Level

Candidates at all career stages are encouraged to apply — from experienced paralegals ready to hit the ground running to motivated individuals eager to learn and grow. Adaptability, organization, and willingness to learn are key; not every skill needs to be mastered from day one.

Preferred Candidate

Someone proactive, detail-focused, and adept at managing competing priorities in a fast-paced setting. Success in this role hinges on initiative, effective communication, and a positive, collaborative attitude.

Unique Aspects of the Role

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, 401(k))
  • Supportive team environment with a genuine focus on staff development
  • Engaging litigation work in federal and state courts
  • Stability and reputation of a well-established, esteemed firm
