Schedule: Varying start and finish time 6am to 6pm and possibly rotating Saturdays

The primary role of a phlebotomist is to aid in carrying out assorted assigned tasks, problem solving, education, and proposing workflow suggestions.
Position Responsibilities: Experience performing blood draws, labeling samples, separating samples in a centrifuge, documenting maintenance information and decontamination, updating patient details, etc. Gathers and stores samples following established protocols. Clearly and politely explains the process of venipuncture (blood extraction) and/or other sample collection (e.g. urine or fecal) as needed. Demonstrates techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully comprehends all physician instructions. Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Labels, spins, splits, and freezes samples per test request. Verifies all test requisitions or electronic labels against script for 100% accuracy. Prepares samples for transportation. Stores samples at correct temperature, places them in suitable collection container/tube, labels accurately, follows various procedures specified by the protocol for transport to maintain sample integrity. Adheres to OSHA and DEP regulations. Attends annual departmental trainings. Answers phone calls, reads laboratory results to address inquiries.
Qualifications: At least 6 months' experience carrying out venipunctures in a rapid lab or hospital setting. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
High School diploma or equivalent or Phlebotomy Certification
2-4 years of experience
