Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Designer to drive the creation of unique collections across various product categories. This role demands a strong creative vision, market awareness, and the ability to collaborate effectively to deliver trend-setting, commercially successful products.
Responsibilities
- Develop seasonal apparel collections that reflect current trends, customer preferences, and brand goals.
- Research market trends, competitor offerings, and potential opportunities to inspire fresh product ideas and design strategies.
- Team up with Sales, Merchandising, and other departments to understand customer needs and achieve seasonal business targets.
- Help shape seasonal product direction, assortment strategies, and category priorities.
- Generate innovative design concepts that capitalize on market trends and resonate with target audiences.
- Oversee project schedules and manage development timelines to ensure all deadlines are met.
- Provide mentorship to Associate Designers and work closely with Graphic Designers on seasonal projects.
- Review and approve design concepts before production begins as necessary.
- Lead fit sessions and coordinate product handoffs with Product Development and Technical Design teams.
- Collaborate with costing partners to achieve target price points while maintaining design quality.
- Assess technical packages for accuracy and completeness throughout the sampling and production phases.
- Approve lab dips, strike-offs, fabric choices, and production samples to uphold quality and aesthetic standards.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a Design role in the apparel industry.
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, with strong sketching and rendering skills.
- Experience with 3D design is a plus, but not mandatory.
- Demonstrated ability to design apparel in a fast-paced retail setting.
- Knowledge of licensed apparel programs is advantageous but not required.
- Deep knowledge of fashion trends, garment construction, fabric development, and market positioning.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and project management abilities.
- Must be located in the New York City area or willing to relocate, as onsite presence is necessary for this role.
