Electrical Engineer

We're looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to offer hands-on technical leadership for industrial electrical, automation and process-control systems within a manufacturing setting. This role will entail designing, maintaining, troubleshooting and optimizing plant electrical and control systems, such as PLC, DCS, SCADA, instrumentation and high- and medium-voltage power distribution.

The Electrical Engineer will lead capital projects from concept to startup, provide technical support to Operations and Maintenance, conduct root-cause failure analysis and ensure electrical systems comply with relevant NEC and NFPA standards.

Key Responsibilities

•Design, program, troubleshoot and optimize Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, Siemens SIMATIC S7/TIA Portal and Mitsubishi PLC systems.
•Configure, integrate and maintain Yokogawa Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
•Maintain SCADA interfaces, HMI screens and process-data collection systems, including Aspen Data Historian.
•Perform loop checks, calibration oversight and logic tuning for industrial process controls, instrumentation and control valves.
•Coordinate automation software/hardware upgrades and industrial network communications.
•Oversee electrical power-distribution systems, substations and infrastructure, primarily 5kV.
•Perform arc-flash hazard analysis, short-circuit/fault-current studies and protective-relaying assessments.
•Manage MCCs, VFDs, transformers and switchgear.
•Ensure electrical design and installations comply with NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 70B and industrial grounding/bonding standards.
•Lead capital engineering projects from feasibility and cost estimation through design, procurement, construction and startup.
•Develop and review technical specifications for manufacturing equipment, chemical reactors, rinsing systems and material-handling equipment.
•Develop and maintain P&IDs, electrical one-line diagrams, schematics and control-philosophy documentation using AutoCAD.
•Manage vendor bids, change orders, contractors and third-party technical resources.
•Provide troubleshooting and root-cause failure analysis for complex electrical, instrumentation and control-system issues.

Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 5–10+ years of industrial electrical power, controls or automation experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
•In-depth knowledge of industrial electrical system design.
•Strong PLC, automation, instrumentation and industrial power-distribution knowledge.
•Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
•Ability to work effectively with production, maintenance, engineering and outside contractors.
•Strong organizational and project-management skills.
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, EasyPower or related engineering software preferred.

Physical Requirements

Regular movement throughout an industrial facility, including climbing stairs. Prolonged periods of computer/desk work and occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds.
