The primary role of a blood extraction specialist is to aid in executing various assigned tasks, problem-solving, providing training, and presenting suggestions for workflow improvement.

Job Responsibilities: Proficiency in blood collection, specimen labeling, specimen centrifugation, data recording and decontamination, patient information updating, etc. Properly explaining the venipuncture and specimen collection process. Demonstrating proper technique with straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Understanding all physician orders. Matching requisition forms to specimen tubes. Labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens according to test orders. Ensuring accuracy in test requisitions. Packaging specimens for transportation. Following storage protocols. Complying with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attending departmental trainings. Responding to inquiries and reading laboratory results over the phone.

Minimum Qualifications: Valid state Phlebotomy certification. At least 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. High school diploma or GED. At least one year of relevant experience.
