Float to multiple locations within Northwest Indiana. Compensation for mileage provided. Must have a clean driving record and dependable transportation.
Summary:
The primary responsibility of a phlebotomist is to support in carrying out various assigned tasks, troubleshooting, providing training, and suggesting improvements to work processes.
Position Responsibilities:
Experience in blood drawing, specimen labeling, specimen centrifuging, recording maintenance activities and decontamination, updating patient records, etc. Collection and storage of specimens as per established guidelines. Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously, and demonstrate techniques using various types of needles. Understand all physician orders and match them with specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as needed. Check requisitions against scripts for accuracy. Prepare specimens for transportation. Store specimens at correct temperatures, label accurately, and follow specific protocol for transport. Adhere to OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual departmental trainings. Answer phone calls and provide information on laboratory results.
Minimum Qualifications: Valid Phlebotomy certification as required by the state of employment. At least 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or equivalent qualification.
