Director of Technology Development

The Opportunity:

This high-level Los Angeles wireless communications company is seeking a Tech Development Director. This role will be responsible for the following main duties within the CTO's office:

· Lead and enhance government R&D funding in the organization;

· Supervise the company's technology roadmap under the guidance of the CTO

· Collaborate with the CTO and VP of Engineering to oversee the successful technical execution of the company's R&D programs

· Make a positive impact on the company's IP portfolio

This position plays a vital role in the company's success in both government and commercial markets.

Responsibilities

· Engage with external funding organizations, opportunities, and attend information and networking events

· Create white papers and proposals leading to contract awards

· Collaborate with the CTO and VP of Engineering to identify technical development priorities and roadmaps and assist with their implementation

· Participate in business development activities such as experiments, demonstrations, and customer meetings

· Develop and manage a diverse engineering workforce for business development (BD) and program execution efforts

· Expand the company's IP portfolio as part of BD and execution efforts

Qualifications

· Preferably a PhD in Electrical Engineering, with a minimum requirement of an MS degree

· At least 7 years of relevant experience in wireless communication system design post PhD, with expertise in RF sensing and signal analysis being advantageous.

· Proficiency in technical presentations, proposal writing, and technical reporting

· Experience in customer engagement with a focus on the government sector

· Hands-on management experience in wireless system design and working knowledge of simulation tools such as MATLAB and C

· Desired expertise in RF signal propagation, channel modeling, digital communications, RF sensing, signal analysis, machine learning, and related signal processing technologies, as well as knowledge in MIMO systems and mesh networking

· A Secret Clearance is a plus to facilitate occasional classified discussions and/or specification documents
